Think Outside the Bar
A new trend we are seeing in Receptions these days are all kinds of "food bars." You can have a morning, afternoon or dinner reception and a food bar fits the bill! Any type of food, from sides, to main dishes, to cute little minis desserts. . . the list is endless. I have really enjoyed seeing these food displays and sets ups across the weddings change and become more creative. Our food coordinator, Edie, has even added some food bars to our menu to accomodate this new trend!
Denise showed you this Sangria Bar option in one of her earlier posts that talked about when to have your ceremony, but it is also a great example of a drink bar that you could have for your guests, really anytime of day! Food(or drink) bars are a great way to keep your guests active in your wedding (not to mention a great way to tie in some of you and your groom's favorite foods). Instead of picking and choosing which buffet choices have the ingredients they like, they can take a basic item, like potatoes, and add what they want to it, like bacon, cheese, sour cream, chives, etc.
When I first started here at Heartwood Hall, we consistently had the potato bar I just referenced. Bride's loved the idea of having a beautiful presentation of martini glasses stacked, with baby red potatoes, mashed, and colorful toppings displayed all over the table for their guests to customize. Since then, we've added taco stations, spud stations and so many other options.
I've posted some examples of some adorable choices. Until next time. . . xoxo Happy Planning!
